Internship Programme

Conduit Capital is a holding company with the specific objective of supporting its subsidiary and associate companies. Conduit operates through two main segments, namely Investments and Insurance & Risk. The former houses the group's investment activities, provides support to subsidiary companies where necessary and allocates capital, while the latter is the holding company of the Group's insurance interests. The Group is managed on a decentralised basis where subsidiaries have autonomy to conduct their affairs with the long-term objective of compounding intrinsic value over time.

The Conduit Group launched an Internship Programme and is committed to skills development and skills upliftment within the financial sector, whereby creating opportunities for graduates and intern students to get practical work experience with the intention of obtaining talent for possible ingestion within the group. The paid intern will be expected to work between 15 and 25 hours a week in our organisation, with the Programme starting in March and August for a minimum period of 3 months and a maximum of 12 months.




  • Commercial and legal research
  • Financial modelling and budgeting
  • Prepare presentations and proposals
  • Prepare presentation packs
  • Assisting with ad-hoc reports and research for the team
  • Project management, including co-ordinating due diligence activities (where appropriate)
  • Meeting with and corresponding with portfolio companies and both internal and external clients
  • Assisting the team during special events and projects
  • Participate in idea/problem solving debates (both internally and externally)
  • General administration work
  • Administrative support
  • General office business support

Applicants should meet the following criteria:

  • An intern must possess or be in the process of obtaining a tertiary qualification from a recognised South African University or College within one of the following fields of study – Private Equity, Financial, Business Administration or International Business;
  • Possess (or at the very least is enrolled in) a relevant post-graduate programme such as the CA(SA) (or similar accounting qualification), CFA, CAIA, FRM, or MBA programme etc.;
  • Conduit will consider its employment equity objectives in appointing an intern;
  • Emotional and cultural intelligence is essential, as is the ability to work with minimum direction/supervision;
  • Preference will be given to South African citizens in appointing an intern. Non-South African citizens may, in exceptional circumstances, after considering available local graduates and with the approval of the CEO, be offered an internship; and
  • Should a Non-South African citizen be considered it is a requirement that this individual possess the requisite documentation allowing him/her to legally work in South Africa.
  • Unemployed South African graduates and post graduates looking for work experience;
  • Student interns in their final year of completing their academic studies; and
  • Recent graduates or young professionals who have been exposed (or have limited exposure) to work experience related advisory experience (e.g. typically investment banking, M&A, finance, or turnaround/restructuring management consulting) who is looking to branch into investing (e.g. turnaround, restructuring, and distressed private equity investing).
  • You must be a South African citizen;
  • You must be between 19 and 35 years old;
  • You must be in possession of a valid and recognised Matric/Standard 10/Grade 12 Certificate (60% and above) with English, Maths and a 2nd language;
  • You must be in possession of a valid drivers’ license and own your own vehicle;
  • You must be able to communicate effectively in English;
  • You must possess proficient computer skills, including all Microsoft Office products, especially Microsoft Excel;
  • You must display high attention to detail; and
  • You must be able to work accurately.
  • You must be a self-starter who bets on yourself and is entrepreneurial in your thinking and approach;
  • You must be curious and genuinely interested in corporate renewal, turnaround, restructuring, and distressed private equity investing;
  • You must be able to communicate clearly and professionally with clients;
  • You must have above average typing skills;
  • You must have resilience & drive and be the type of person who pursues goals despite obstacles;
  • You must be self-motivated and have a burning desire and potential to learn;
  • You must be punctual, have a great attitude, be coachable, be willing to do extra, be prepared, put in effort, have good body language and have great energy;
  • You must be highly focused, able to listen/process and execute, on all mandates in a highly time constrained fashion;
  • You must have an entrepreneurial and a creative mind set;
  • You must be able to work well alone as well as in teams; and
  • You must be detail-oriented and accurately capture and communicate information.
